So. Much. Love.
That’s how I’d describe the dreamy church wedding of Alice and Anthony last season. From start to finish, the day was filled with hugs, laughter, cuddles, kisses and cheers.
Their day was the perfect blend of a traditional church wedding. Combined with all the best parts of a modern day celebration.
The ceremony kicked off at the beautiful old Otaki Beach Church. There’s just something so romantic about a traditional church wedding, especially when the venue feels so warm and welcoming. The day then moved through to The Milk Station to celebrate into the night. This is seriously one of our all-time favourite venues, and for good reason. The Milk Station is based right in the middle of Otaki . But it feels like you’ve been transported to a Mediterranean oasis. Gorgeous architecture, lush gardens, and the perfect space for the wedding reception. It is built to bring people together and, not to mention, it’s jam-packed with amazing photo spots.
With Anthony’s Italian Catholic heritage, family was at the centre of the day.
Their beautiful daughters played a huge role in the proceedings on the day. However they also took plenty of time to catch up with extended family, sharing stories, hugs and clinking glasses (while we snapped plenty of candid images!). With most of their family based in Australia, they took the opportunity to do their daughter’s christening at the same time as the wedding- because how often is the entire extended family all in one place?
Whether it means tying in some other celebrations, birthdays, or even just taking time to get family photos with those you only see every now and then. Wedding days make for the perfect family reunion. Although the travel restrictions that have been brought in this year mean catching up with international family members relies heavily on Zoom calls. Your wedding day can still be the ideal time to celebrate family, as well as the love the two of you share.
Alice and Anthony’s wedding is the perfect reminder to figure out your top priorities.
For these two, family – and plan your wedding day the way you want to. Every single wedding we photograph has different priorities, whether it’s a church wedding, a beachfront wedding or an elopement. Sit down as a couple, establish what you want to focus on for your wedding day, and celebrate the way you want to.
